Obituary for a Dear Friend

** Before I share this news, check out the great recipe posted at the bottom of the page:

I know that many of you may have already heard this news but it is worth passing on to share with you again. So, it is with the saddest heart that I must pass on the following news.

Please join me in remembering a great icon and dear friend of mine since childhood.

The Pillsbury Doughboy, best known as “Pop n Serve” or “Pop n Fresh”, died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes to the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours.

As longtime friend, Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Although Doughboy rose quickly in show business, his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very “smart” cookie for much of his life, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he even still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions. Toward the end it was thought he would rise again, but alas, he was no tart.

Dough boy was survived by his wife Play Dough, three children, John Dough, Jane Dough, and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the Oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The Funeral was held at 350 for about 20 minutes.
